Richard is a third-generation business owner in the lawn and landscape industry. An industry his family has been involved with since 1975 when his grandfather first began the foundation for what is now Blake’s Lawn Care, Inc.
Born in the sunflower state of Kansas, Richard grew up the oldest of 6 siblings. Richard moved around a lot growing up; living in places all over the United States spanning from Fresno, California all the way to Tampa, Florida and many states in between. But in the end, his destiny brought him right back to where it started, here in Kansas.
Richard met the love of his life, Brooke at the Andover YMCA where they worked out together. Little did he know she would become his wife just two years later. On August 18, 2016, their daughter Brinley was born and their lives have never been the same since. Then a few years later his son Bentley was born and their tribe grew even larger. The best part of his days is coming home to his daughter and son running around the corner saying, “daddy’s home” and giving him a big hug. He believes it’s the small things in life that mean the most. The Blakes are currently raising their family, including two dogs Thor and Athena, in Andover, Kansas.
In addition to being a family man, small business owner, and full-time employee at Spirit Aerosystems; Richard loves spending time grilling outside and watching the San Francisco 49ers play football. He still remembers the first NFL game he ever watched on TV. It was the 1991 NFC championship game, which any 49er fan can tell you was a loss. He doesn’t know why he decided to root for a team that lost in the first game he ever watched. However, he has loved the 49ers ever since that day. Richard’s office is completely decorated in 49ers décor, mostly because Brooke won’t allow him to put it up in their family room at home.
In addition to being an owner of Blake’s Lawn Care, Brooke serves as the Bed Maintenance Account Manager. Richard and Brooke bought the business from the Blake family in 2018. Brooke says she enjoys the freedom and flexibility of her schedule as it allows her to spend more time at home with their daughter. and son Outside of the business, she enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and son along with doing crafts and exercising.
Taylor became part of our team in 2018 and serves as an Account Manager. He is a husband, dad, and U.S. Army Combat veteran. Born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, he and his high school sweetheart (now wife of nine years), Courtney, are currently raising their family. They have three boys (all of whom are under the age of six) and two female boxers. Taylor’s favorite part about his job is the family environment and genuine camaraderie that he shares with his coworkers. Taylor enjoys spending time with his family, including passing down the love of football to his boys, which has created a house divided between the Kansas City Chiefs and Dallas Cowboys.
Chris has been with the company and part of the Blake family since 1998. Chris started out working as one of our lawn technicians for the better part of two decades before transitioning into being our full-time shop mechanic as the business grew. Chris is in charge of making sure all the equipment is operational on a daily basis.
From time to time his knowledge and skills are still called upon in the field where his MacGyver-like ingenuity comes in handy; no man wields a roll of duck tape better than this man. When Chris is not working he enjoys being a husband, father, and entrepreneur where he helps his wife operate their locksmith business "Kansas Auto Lockout".
William has been with the company since 2018 when he started as a crew member at the age of 19 years old. He really enjoys being outside and loves nature, which thankfully this job provides plenty of both. He is very passionate, takes pride in his work, and always tries to do his best at anything he does. Williams lawn striping skills rival the best in the industry as many of our customers already know.
When William is not working he likes to spend his free time with his fiancé Kasey who also works for the company. William met Kasey in March of 2017. They've been happily together and love spending time at home with family, friends, and their pets. William's hobbies include playing video games, focusing on his music, and rooting for the New Orleans Saints who he's been a fan of for as long as he can remember. He hopes they go back to the Super Bowl sometime soon. "WHO DAT!!!".
Robert joined the team in 2018 as a crew member and since then through hard work and impeccable work ethic has worked himself into a Team Lead position. When Robert is not working he enjoys spending time with his family and friends. Robert's hobbies include cars and cooking delicious meals on any type of cooking surface.
Khris has been with the company since 2018. He was born and raised here in Wichita. He started off as a crew member and quickly moved into a Team Lead role. When not working Khris enjoys spending time with his two children, two dogs, and a gecko. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, and teaching his children to do both. He also enjoys playing sports, watching races, and riding motorcycles.
